银元俗称“大洋”、“洋钱”或“花边钱”。银元起源于15世纪的欧洲，是银本位制国家的主要流通货币。
大约在明万历（1573年-1620年）年间银元流入中国。清乾隆五十八年（1793年），清政府首次在西藏铸行“乾隆宝藏”银币。道光（1821年-1850年）年间，台湾福建等地也曾仿制银圆，称为银饼。光绪十六年（1890年）清廷开始正式铸造银元“光绪元宝”（即龙洋），各省纷起效尤。[1]民国时期建立银本位货币制度以后，也以银元作为主要流通币。银元是近代币收藏的重要币种之一。

左一金本位币银质样币设计为正面孙中山肖像，采用民国十八年帆船银币意大利版之孙中山侧面像，背面图案则采用中央造币厂美籍总技师赫维特（CLIFFORDHEWITT）设计的双桅帆船，航行于海上，船右侧东升旭日，水波纹上有三鸟飞翔，上边金本位币壹圆（或半圆、贰角、壹角），整体构图精美非常。其铸币模具则委请美国费城造币厂总雕刻师辛诺克（JOHNSINNOCK）担纲雕制，在中央造币厂（今上海造币厂）铸造。
民国二十一年孙中山像背帆船下三鸟金本位壹圆银币样币一枚，上海中央造币厂铸造，齿边，近未使用至完全未使用，金本位样币是中国货币史特殊历史时期的产物，历来是老一辈收藏家最为珍视的品种，存世屈指可数；拍品雕刻精美，铸工精湛，图文清晰，版底没有丝毫划伤，币边马齿锐利，币面呈现银粉色光芒，熠熠生辉，银光明亮如镜，状态之完美，无出其右，堪称十九世纪上海造币厂铸币工艺之典范，并以PCGSSP68之唯一翘楚分数面世，必为藏家高度重视，珍罕之至。
右一此枚“广西省造光绪元宝库平一两”银元。银元正面珠圈内铸满汉文“光绪元宝”四字，圈外上环“广西省造”，下环“库平一两”，显然可见满汉文化的融合。藏品的背面内圈是神龙图腾，纹路如刀刻所成，铸造工艺神乎其技，且龙身纹路精美，并有云海衬托，看上去仿佛是一幅神龙翱翔天际油画，极其瑰丽，美得动人心魄。
珍贵的光绪元宝钱币记载着清朝惊天动地的历史，由于历经百年风雨，存世量极为稀少，尤其是品相好的更为稀缺。钱币虽小，也可管窥社会文化一斑。其边齿过关，龙鳞清晰。是考古和研究中国历史文化难得的实物，资深银元鉴赏收藏爱好者不可错过！
左二爱新觉罗·载淳，即清穆宗，清朝第十位皇帝，年号“同治”。故称同治帝。在其在位期间，出现了同治新政的经典盛世。此同治皇帝福健恭进纪念币，采用上好白银制造，正面珠圈内铸有同治皇帝正面上身图案，身着龙袍，神采奕奕，衣着细节独到，实属精妙。
银币背面外围有双龙环绕，气势威武无比，中央为“同治皇帝福健恭进”字样。该币色泽圆润，雕刻精良，背面纹路清晰，属珍贵稀少的品种，值得细品。
右二正面均为袁世凯五分侧面像，上列纪年，民国十年收藏价值是极高的，袁大头之所以会被称为袁大头主要是因为在这枚银元背后是印有袁世凯侧脸的“大头贴，并且这枚银元也是由他发行的，背嘉禾二本，左右交互，下系结带，中铸“壹圆”二字。这些年，在银元收藏界，有一个名字，始终不乏耳闻，那就是“袁大头”，特别是这几年，随着金银价格走强以及市场的火爆，许多老银元的市场价格都有了多倍的涨幅，其中部分版本特殊，品相良好，存世稀少的珍品，更是不可估量。首先银元值钱的其中原因在于它和人民币不同，它从外国的传入期是由清朝开始袁世凯为了解决在辛亥革命后的军费问题以及个人地位提高的重要途径，从这里来说虽然他不受到欢迎但是银元背后的历史价值是不容小窥的。
