董顺杰，笔名松柏，男，1943年2月生，四川省南充市人，副研究馆员职称，1963年毕业于西南师范学院美术系，重庆市万州区第一届政协委员。高级广告策划师，文物博物副研究员，国家一级书画师。2012年受聘担任世界教科文组织首席艺术家，并担任世界教科文组织艺术委员会执行委员，授予“世界艺术大师”荣誉称号。2013年加盟中国香港特区国画院受聘为终身荣誉院士。获俄罗斯国立艺术家协会大中华区首批外籍会员，并授予终身荣誉会籍。获瑞典皇家艺术学院荣誉博士学位，”颁授瑞典皇家北极星勋章”。

董顺杰的用笔已极松动自然，有枯藤坠石之妙，提按勾勒，皴擦点写，率性之至，笔与象、意与境、心与画，进入无碍境界，所谓“从心所欲，不逾矩”。这种笔法表现上的自由王国状态，是画家多年纯功历练的结果。它从古代传统来，又不同于古代传统，强化了笔法的转换、起止、映带、方圆、刚柔，因而形成了鲜明的个性语言。它弱化了描绘性，强化了表现性，使绘画向“内在需要”（康定斯基语）走去，向心灵表现趋近。

其代价是遗貌而不易形似，其收获是心性抒发的自由与取得山水之大象（神似），令心物不二，使山水的自然之性与吾人之心高度合一。“重则滞”，“轻则飘”，只有“松”而“沉”，“重”而“轻”，才能虚灵圆活。石涛在《画语录》里所谓“腕不虚则画非是”，“其用笔极重处，却须飞提纸上，消去猛气”，说的也是这个用笔之道。杨炳湘之画法，恰是体现“腕虚”“笔活”“飞提纸上”之妙处。
墨者，高低晕淡，品物浅深，文采自然”（荆浩《笔法记》）之气度，浓缩于尺幅之间，于山苍水秀、水活石润中天趣盎然。
